I love this restaurant. I don't think I will ever find a restaurant I like more than this one. Every dish is amazing and I know this because I've been coming here for years with family and friends. The atmosphere is amazing for any time of day. The waitstaff is very accommodating and the service is extremely good and food comes out QUICK. I wish I could tip hundreds and come here every day. Clay pot noodle soup and any curry are my top recommendations here
My husband and I had dinner here last night. It was amazing. We had the Roti Canai, seafood soup and duck. All I can say is we can't wait to go back and try the other dishes. The food was so delicious and our server, Annie was so nice. I would highly recommend this place.
All the dishes tasted great Just like always. Nice environment and friendly waitress and waiters. Descent food with not so expensive prices. Three main dishes, one soup, two appetizers, and three drinks, about 100$ before tip.
Absolutely love this place, and I always come back to it. The staff plus environment are great, and the food is always delicious. Came here with a group of friends and ordered a bunch of different dishes to share. Food came out quick, fresh, and hot. Started off with the roti canai as the appetizer. Of the dishes we ordered, my personal favorite is the beef stew with the side of chicken rice. We also got the hainanese chicken which is also a classic. 10/10 will definitely be back in the near future.
The food is fairly good. I do prefer other Malaysian places, but its a little cheaper here than the alternatives, so I think its fairly good value. I ordered the beef rendang. This was a little different to what I'm used to... for example, it had some gravy, although I'm used to this dish being more dry. Also the flavor was a little different (less strong than I'm used to). So even though I don't think this is authentic rendang, it was quite tasty, and at $16 for rendang and rice, I can't complain. Also ordered the satay skewers as an appetizer. Similar story here... it was priced well, although not the best satay skewers that I've had. The main issue here was that the satay sauce was way too sweet. Large parking lot since its in a shopping plaza. The service was friendly.
Delicious food! Amazing service! I traveled an hour to eat here and was happy to make the trip! There used to be a Penang in Bergen County that I loved and now this is the closest one. We ordered the haianese chicken, mee goreng, pandan chicken wings, mango with sticky rice and grass jelly drink. Everything was delicious except the pandan chicken wings were too salty and the grass jelly drink was flavorless/bland. Other than that, so yummy. The service was great! Very friendly and super quick. Everyone was so kind and one waiter was especially friendly and nice to my child even though there was a mess everywhere. Thank you, Penang!
Located at the Hanover Commons off of Route 10 in East Hanover, this establishment is a culinary gem that transports patrons on a flavorful journey through the vibrant cuisines of Malaysia and Thailand, where some of us were first-timers last night for dinner. Reservations were easily made by phone for a party of nine. The host and the owner, Hook, greeted us as soon as my partner, our friends and I entered Penang and whisked us to our table. The menu comprises a melting pot of Native Malay, Thai, Chinese, and Indian cuisines, with vegan and vegetarian options. For appetizers, we decided on Roti Canai, Popia Rolls (2), Thai Lettuce Wraps, Honey Squid, Penang Satay, and Thai Veggie Spring Rolls. For our main meal, we opted for Penang Char Kway Teow, Thai Basil Noodles, Malaysian Pork Chop, Beef with Ginger and Scallion, Vegetarian Sesame Chicken, Malaysian Buddhist Delight, and Beef with Broccoli. All the dishes were authentic, tasty, and delicious. The quantity of food and its flavors were spot-on. The portion size was quite reasonable. Prices were normal for 2024, and it's BYOB. Whether you're dining with family, friends, or that special someone, you'll thank us, as everything checked off perfectly, which we continue to recommend.
Someone close to me was so impressed with the food and the service provided at this restaurant that he packed some vegetarian for me and brought it back all the way from New Jersey! We do have Malaysian restaurants around where I live, but the stock used in any of these restaurants is never vegetarian and somehow I found them reacting very cold to my request, ah well..! The roti was soft and the kanai was buttery and tasty. Really liked that even after a long flight a little microwave heating brought it all back to almost as good as what is served in the restaurant. The fried rice was mild but yummy and could be made extra flavorful with the dips that came on the side. Loved how the vegetables were just the right crispy- neither overcooked nor under. Noodles was ok, I would avoid those in the future. Would love to explore more of their vegetarian options especially since Penang is a combination of Malaysian and Thai.
Family and I have been in this location multiple times and we've always been satisfied with the food. our go-to app is their Roti Canai which has been consistently good after all these years. Dipping that dough in curry sauce definitely works the appetite. For our entrees we love sharing their thai mango chicken and seafood panfried noodle. And from time to time we try other things on the menu just to see if we'll find a new favorite. Other good ones are their honey squid, golden ribs, satay, salted fish fried rice and whole sea bass. Even the desserts are good including their sticky rice and fried ice cream. and dont forget their thai bubble milk tea! it has always been a good experience here and we're glad we have a place to go back to that the whole family enjoys!
